A V Family Day Out

We recently had a lovely day out on the sunny south coast.  We were actually lucky that it was a sunny day because it hadn't been so nice beforehand.

We started off at Mudeford where we went crabbing, we haven't been crabbing for quite a few years so the kids were really excited about this.
On our crab lines we used little washing tablet nets filled with bacon and although things started off slowly with only N catching a tiny baby crab, it soon went crazy - sometimes we were pulling in 3 crabs at a time! My favourite part was hearing the kids cheer and whoop every time they caught one, they really enjoyed it so we'll definitely do it again and not leave it so long next time.
After crabbing we headed down to Bournemouth beach where we discovered the amazing pier zip, a huge zip line running from a tower at the end of the pier, down to the beach! This instantly caught T's attention because he loves adventurous things and seeing as his birthday is coming up he's decided that he would like to do that as a birthday treat.

For lunch we went to the Harry Ramsden's restaurant right next to the beach. T and N love Harry Ramsden's but they had never been to an actual restaurant version before so they were pretty excited. I'm pleased to say that it lived up to their expectations because the food was amazing! It was quite expensive but so worth it in my opinion.
After lunch we got back in the car and went in search of a park for the kids to play in. We found this little beauty:
It was different to most parks we've been to so the kids enjoyed the change. We also took a frisbee and football to play with on the field next to the park - can you tell we wanted super-tired kids by the end of the day!

On the way home we needed a few bits and bobs so we stopped in Sainsburys and the kids bought their red noses. We loved that you couldn't see which nose you were getting until you opened the packet, this made it more exciting and luckily both of them got one they liked.
Overall we had a great day, T and N didn't argue (believe me when I say that is rare) and although it was chilly, the sun was out all day.

  1. Sounds like a fab day out Kate. And it's where I live (Bournemouth not Mudeford. The river at Mudeford is great for swimming in when it's warmer!).
