Inside Out

Since having E we haven't been able to visit the cinema as a whole family (we couldn't expect her to sit still and be quiet for the duration of a movie) so we tend to have boys trips and girls trips. Recently it was the girls turn so we booked our tickets to see Inside Out at our nearest Odeon cinema and we also decided to invite N's friend along too.

Inside Out

There was much excitement when we got our kids popcorn combos (popcorn, drink and sweets) because we received a free Inside Out cup with each combo!

Once we were fully loaded up with sugar and freebies we made our way to screen 8 where the all the magic was about to happen.

Cinema

We watched the 2D version because N really doesn't enjoy 3D movies - apparently she doesn't like having to put glasses on to watch a movie. To be honest I'm not keen on the idea either so was quite relieved when she said she would prefer to watch it in 2D.

Inside Out was fantastic, I sometimes find cartoon movies a bit on the dull side but this captured my imagination entirely, I found myself completely hooked and laughing regularly. I just love the idea of having little people in your head making all your decisions for you, it sounds ridiculous but this movie made the idea believable and that's what I loved most.

The girls were equally as hooked as I was, all the way home we were discussing our emotions and how each character could be responsible for them - our imaginations were running wild!

On a more serious note, I would like to think that this movie will encourage children to begin to understand their emotions, to know that it's okay to feel sadness/joy/anger/fear/disgust and not to hide from those feelings. In my opinion there was definitely a good message hidden beneath the fun and frolics.

Have you seen Inside Out yet? Are you planning to watch it? As always I'd love to hear from you.

  1. Fabulous :D

We are planning to watch it (we as in me and probably Alfie!).

I remember when the trailer first came out - brought to my attention by a couple of my teaching assistant team. I wanted to buy it to show to the whole school. Although we always normalise feelings with children, this is a fabulous way to get it across Kate.

Love a movie that prompts discussion!

    Thanks for sharing. x
