Fruit Picking

The final activity we managed to fit into the summer holidays was fruit picking. The kids had been keen to do this for quite a while so they were rather excited.

We found a lovely 'pick your own' farm and headed out in the sunshine to pick our fruit.

Fruit Picking

N was thrilled when she realised she'd get to keep the punnet at the end of her fruit picking adventure!

Fruit Picking

We started with the raspberries.

Fruit Picking

We had to look really hard because there weren't too many good quality raspberries left. We all enjoyed the search though and there were cheers whenever someone found a 'juicy' one!

Fruit Picking

We ended up with quite a few raspberries in N's punnet, she was very happy with her haul.

Fruit Picking

Next we went to find some strawberries. E enjoyed this activity just as much as the older two so I would recommend it for all ages.

Fruit Picking

T was in charge of the strawberry punnet and he was very particular about the quality of strawberries going in it!

Fruit Picking

We soon filled it up and, thanks to T's fussiness, had some lovely-looking strawberries to take home with us.

Fruit Picking

This activity was a real success, more so than I had expected. We're hoping to return at some point to pick some vegetables.

Do you enjoy picking your own fruit and veg? I'd love to hear from you.

  1. Fabulous activity Kate (will you be growing your own?).

We only did it once when the boys were younger and it was a blazing hot day with no shade. Probably something that should be done a cooler day ...

What did you make with your haul of goodies? x

    1. We actually grew sweetcorn and carrots when the kids were younger, the carrots weren't too good but the sweetcorn did really well! We're hoping to have a bigger garden in the next house so maybe we'll try again.

I can imagine fruit picking in blazing heat would be uncomfortable, we were lucky that it was sunny but it was also windy so that kept us cool. We used these for snacking and more ice cream!

Thanks for commenting Shaz (glad it worked) x

    2. I've gone back to Chrome but it still keeps crashing all the time! One frustrated blogger hahaha

I wonder what you'll choose to grow ... exciting! x

    3. So frustrating! I hope it decides to behave soon - computers can be very temperamental sometimes can't they, almost like a child/pet/husband ;)

I have a feeling there will be more sweetcorn in our future.
