Snoozin' in The Animal Kingdom
As a parent I think about sleep on a regular basis - how long I've slept, how comfortable I was during the night, how long the kids have slept etc.
I even spend time thinking about our pets sleeping habits! Flint is a large breed of dog so he sleeps a lot and I often envy the fact that he can sleep whenever and wherever he wants. The Geckos are mostly nocturnal so they sleep all day and come out to play at night. I say mostly because they do come out during the day when we're feeding them and also when it's time to shed their skin (we have a moist shelter for them to use when they need it).
Sleep is an important part of life for all of us and this is why I love the fascinating infographic from Mattress Next Day. It contains so many interesting facts on both adult and infant sleeping patterns:
I find it amazing that dolphins can switch off only half of their brain when they sleep and that human teenagers (if you can call them human at that age) actually do need more sleep than adults!
What do you think about these facts? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
