Blogger Interview - Erica From Nine to Three Thirty
Mummy V's blogger interviews are back and I'm delighted to welcome Erica from Nine to Three Thirty to the hot seat!
I'm Erica Price, a blogger at Nine to Three Thirty and I am a mum to a 9 year old boy. I started blogging when my son was 4 and just getting ready to start primary school. I've had a lot of fun over the years of blogging and have even set up other blogs to write about other interests like Food (http://alittleluxuryfor.me/) and Travel (http://toothbrushpacked.com/), in fact I think I'm addicted.
Hi Erica, thank you for joining me on V Family Fun.
Why did you start blogging?
I started out reviewing products for a site called The Green Familia. In time I became a regular writer and that inspired me to start my own blog. That was 5 and a half years ago and I haven't looked back since.
How did you come up with the name for your blog?
Nine to Three Thirty is named for the hours of the school day. When I set my blog up, my son (known as H) was about to start primary school and I thought it would be a good name as he would be at school a long time.
Who designed your header and why did you go for that particular design?
Ellie Illustrates (https://ellieillustrates.co.uk/) designed my header. It's a picture of my son going to school on his red scooter, which he does most days. It brings in some things connected to the name of the blog like the clock. I really like it, but I am thinking of getting it amended slightly, but I might wait until my son is a bit bigger and perhaps using something other than his red scooter for school, or maybe when he goes to secondary.
Do you follow a plan when you are writing a blog post or do you let the words guide you?
I don't follow a plan generally and I have a very relaxed approach. I choose my pictures and I find they often guide my way.
What are your favourite and least favourite parts of promoting your blog?
I must admit I get bored of doing the social media promotion and prefer to use social media just to socialise. That said I do love it when promoting my blog leads to a conversation on Twitter or Facebook.
Do you enjoy taking photos for your blog?
Yes, I have really got into photography over the years. I don't claim to be hugely technically competent, but I hope I have a decent eye for a picture. I try not to take boring photos and I am always on the hunt for a new angle to explore.
What do you hope readers will get out of your blog?
I hope that it's a place where they can read about our life and see some similarities with their own, maybe pick up a few tips or find out something new too.
Is there any blogger you would like to meet in person and why?
Over the years I've met a lot of bloggers (I have been blogging over 5 years and have attended a lot of events and conferences), so there aren't that many that I read regularly that I haven't met at one time or other. I think what I'd really like to do is meet up with my closest blogger friends and have a weekend together in a nice cottage somewhere. You know, if we did that I don't think we'd stop talking all weekend.
Which of your blog posts is your favourite and why?
I don't have a consistent favourite, but my most recent fave is this post that we did for World Book Day. What I really like about this one is the pictures. We had a lot of fun taking the pictures and I think that shows.
What is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
My son. He's the most important thing in my life.
Aww lovely answer! If you could travel anywhere in the world to do research for a blog post where would it be?
I would travel around the Scottish Islands. I want to go to as many as possible and can see a lot of future holidays being devoted to my quest.
Morning or night person?
Morning. I was always a morning person, although that didn't stop me moaning about my son getting up early. We are in a happier routine now and as long as he doesn't wake me before 6am all is good.
Pen or pencil?
Pencil. I would write in pencil every time, but I do like a nice sharp point.
Snow or sun?
Torn here. I feel I should say snow as we haven't had more than a dusting for the last few years (and I do miss it) , but in truth I prefer the sun.
I miss the snow too! Any last words for your readers?
I hope you like reading my posts: it's your feedback and return visits that keep me going.
