"Six years ago, Jillian Lima's whole world was destroyed. The same night her childhood love Brock Mitchell broke her heart, her life was irrevocably altered by a stranger with a gun. After years spent slowly rebuilding the shattered pieces of her life, Jillian is finally ready to stop existing in a past full of pain and regret and is determined to start living. The one thing she never expected was the impossibly handsome Brock walking back into her life...
Brock can't believe that the breathtaking woman standing before him now is the little girl who used to be his shadow growing up. Unable to stay away from each other, their tentative friendship soon sparks into something more and the red-hot chemistry sizzling between them can no longer be denied.
But falling for Brock again risks more than just Jillian's heart. When the past resurfaces, and a web of lies threatens to rip them apart, the fallout could lay waste to everything they've ever cared about..."
This isn't the first book I've read from this author, I read (and loved) Obsidian and awarded it five stars so I was really looking forward to finding out if I would enjoy this one as much.
Fire In You is the sixth book in the Wait For You series and no I haven't read the first five (this is becoming a habit of mine isn't it), even so I found it easy to fall into the storyline just as I did with Obsidian. The author clearly has a natural ability to hold a reader's attention with her words.
Jillian was a likeable character and I was keen to find out exactly what had happened to her. Brock was extremely confident and a little bit cocky which made him a hugely exciting character in my eyes. The chemistry between the two of them was palpable and, even though I had a pretty good idea where things were heading, I absolutely loved their interactions.
The storyline was engaging, there were a variety of situations to keep me flipping the pages - emotional baggage, a difficult history, everyday life struggles, desire, trying to fight that desire etc.
As well as having plenty of sexual tension there were also a few humorous moments which I particularly enjoyed. My favourite was an awkward restaurant scene, I couldn't stop giggling.
This was a heated read with a strong sense of survival. Enjoyable even if you haven't read the previous books!
