V Family Fun on YouTube

I recently posted about how building up my Instagram account was one of my goals for 2017. Today I'd like to tell you about my biggest (and scariest) goal for this year - starting a YouTube channel!

V Family Fun on YouTube

You might not realise this but I am quite self-conscious so putting myself out there on such a HUGE platform was a terrifying step for me. I think this is probably why, as a blogger, I had avoided YouTube like the plague until this year. I thought I would need to get in front of the camera but this is absolutely not necessary. Yes you can record your videos "presenter style" if you feel happy doing so but there are lots of successful YouTubers who stay firmly behind the camera.

I film my videos on my iPhone - I keep the whole thing as simple as possible at the moment because I want it to be a fun experience, I don't want to get bogged down by fussy little details while I'm still finding my feet. I got myself an iPhone tripod for about a fiver on Amazon, I adjusted a cardboard box so I could peg a wallpaper sample to the back as a backdrop and I use my dressing gown or a duvet cover as a base.

So far my most popular video has been the Fingerlings video I recorded with N, it's had over 1,200 views!

I'm certainly not taking the YouTube world by storm, the next Zoella I am not (nor do I want to be) but do you know what, I absolutely LOVE it. I love challenging myself and coming up with new ideas for videos, I love experimenting with the different editing effects available and I generally love the endless possibilities that YouTube gives me.

If you like what you've seen on my YouTube channel then I'd be thrilled if you'd subscribe! You can look forward to more unboxing videos, bookish videos and I'm also considering making some fun kids game videos with N and E.

What do you think of YouTube? Is there anything you'd like to see on my YouTube Channel? I'd love to hear from you.

  1. I love your videos Kate :)

I'm the same as you (still prefer images though unless it's something I want to show).

Good luck with your channel. xx

    1. Thank you Shaz, I like the control I have over images but it's fun to do something different isn't it! x
